The Best in Heritage is the world's only annual survey of award-winning museums and heritage and conservation projects from around the world.
The conference will see the presentation of 28 award winners from around the world, including several laureates of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards, including projects from China, United States, Japan, Iran, Australia, Canada and Russia.
The Award aims to raise awareness of best practices and provide participants with insights into innovative practices, successful management approaches, and extraordinary professionalism.
The EU Prize for Cultural Heritage/ Europa Nostra Awards are the most prestigious recognition in the cultural heritage sector in Europe. The Prize is supported by Creative Europe and implemented in partnership with Europa Nostra
No other spot in The Netherlands can match the 2000 years of history of the Domplein in Utrecht. It faced only one problem: a major part of its history is underground and literally passed over by everyone. The Domplein Foundation took the initiative to open up this concealed history to the public in a grandiose project: DOMunder. JDdVarchitects designed the underground archaeological visitor centre, in cooperation with Tinker imagineers. Visitors assume the role of the archaeologists. Armed with interactive flashlights that activate the underground remains, they descend into the darkness under the Domplein Square in search of its stories.
DOMunder has received several international design awards, including the Museums + Heritage Award 2015, the Heritage in Motion Best of Achievement Award 2015, Spark Experience Award 2015 and a nomination at the European Museum of the Year Award 2016.
